Teeth Whitening Ottawa Price: One Package, Paid Once
Of the five ways to buy whitening in Ottawa, only the Ideal Shade Package at UpWhiten covers as many sessions as your teeth need inside the one number, while every other route re-prices you when you need more.

Five ways to buy whitening in Ottawa, and only one of them is a total.
UpWhiten sells that total. The Ideal Shade Package is one number covering unlimited sessions, until you reach your ideal shade or your genetic limit, at no extra cost. UpWhiten runs the in-chair route, with a NanoChroma™ reading at both ends.
That promise runs on Predictive Whitening™. Before any gel is opened, NanoChroma™ reads your starting shade on an instrument, in the chair. The specialist sets your target and your rounds against that reading, then reads the same colour once more at the end.
A dental fee prices an appointment or a tray. A shelf price covers one box. Neither can price the shade you leave with, because neither read the shade you walked in with.
What Ottawa whitening prices actually get published
Ottawa whitening prices get published in three shapes, and only the first covers what you actually leave with.
UpWhiten sells the first shape. The Ideal Shade Package is one number for as many sessions as your teeth need. You hear it at the free Complimentary Shade Consultation, after your reading, and monthly payment plans sit behind it.
Where a dental office does publish a number, it is a fee per appointment or per tray, and the exam still comes first. Need more next year and someone writes you a new one.
Whitening strips print a shelf price and a promise nobody measured on your teeth. Nobody on that shelf can tell you how many boxes a shade takes, because nobody there read your shade.
“So I would like a quote before we commit 100%.” — Cat C.
Here you get one number for the whole package, and you get it after the reading.
What each Ottawa price includes, and who does the work
Each price includes a different amount of someone else’s work, and the studio price includes all of it.
At UpWhiten a Certified Whitening Specialist runs the visit. One number covers the NanoChroma™ reading before and after, the GumGuard barrier, the PolarGuard protocol, and UltraWhite in timed rounds. Every session inside the package is covered the same way.
A dentist’s fee covers an exam, then an appointment, then the tray you take home. A guideline drawn from 49 papers calls that tray the treatment of choice, at about eight hours a night for about fourteen nights.[3] Those nights are your evenings, and the refill is another invoice.
A box of strips includes strips. The evenings, the mirror and the call on when to stop are all yours.
The reading is the part only one of these prices includes. Across six pooled studies of shade matching, a spectrophotometer read colour more accurately than a clinician with a shade guide.[5]
The table below lists the five routes on sale in Ottawa, and what each price tells you before you pay.
| Route | How you learn the price | How many times you pay | What happens if you need more | Who reads the shade |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| One visit at UpWhiten, inside the Ideal Shade Package. | One number, at the free consultation, after your reading. | Once, for the whole package. | More sessions at no extra cost, until your readings stop moving. | NanoChroma™ reads it before any gel, and again after. |
| A dentist's chair appointment. | A fee per appointment, at or after the exam. | Per appointment. | Another appointment, another quote. | A shade guide, matched by eye. Someone looks and decides. |
| A dentist's take-home tray. | A fee per tray, at that same exam. | Per tray, plus the exam. | A refill or a second tray, priced again. | A tab held up on day one, then nothing. |
| Whitening strips or a drugstore kit. | A shelf price at the pharmacy. | Per box, for years. | Another box, and no way to know how many. | Nothing is read. You judge it in the mirror. |
| Gel ordered online. | A listing price, per bottle. | Per bottle. | Another bottle, contents unknown. | Nothing is read, and nobody supervises. |
None of these five routes moves a crown, a veneer or a bonded front surface, because each keeps the colour it was made in. A tooth darkened from the inside by an old injury stays as it is. Your first reading shows that before any money moves.
Why the Ottawa offers are not directly comparable
The Ottawa offers are not directly comparable because each one bills a different unit. UpWhiten bills a finish, read at both ends. A dental office bills an appointment or a tray, and the pharmacy shelf bills a box.
A cycle is not the same length on every route. A shelf price is a price per cycle, and in one trial the shelf wanted nearly thirty-two of them against just over three in the chair.[1]
Colour comes back, too. One randomised trial of 39 adults put two over-the-counter systems against a professionally prescribed gel.[2] The over-the-counter arms relapsed in colour, the prescribed arm held its colour better, and the authors called the tested systems not recommended.[2] That is a box every few months, for years.
Time is the other unit nobody prints. One laboratory comparison ran four professional systems. Thirty minutes of gel contact in the chair, against seven to a hundred and forty hours over fourteen days for the take-home gels.[6]
When these prices were checked
Every UpWhiten number on this page comes from the studio’s own records to 12 September 2026. Seven in ten buyers decided in the chair, on the day they saw their reading.
A dental fee, published or quoted, is priced per appointment or per tray, so what you will owe is still settled at the exam. A shelf price moves with the week’s flyer, and no total was ever printed at all.
“Will I have the same price?” — Gina L.
One number covers the whole Ideal Shade Package, and once you are told it, it does not move however many sessions your teeth need. The reading comes before the number, so the number fits your teeth.
There are thirty-eight steps on the NanoChroma™ scale between S40, the most yellow reading it takes, and S2, the whitest. Where you stop inside them is your genetic limit. On the same records, the median client goes from first visit to final reading in about five weeks.
Why whitening prices vary between Ottawa providers
Whitening prices vary between Ottawa providers because each one sells a different unit of work. A dental office prices an exam, chair time and a dentist, and whitening shares that calendar with fillings and crowns.
A studio prices whitening, and Predictive Whitening™ is the only thing the room is set up to do. UpWhiten has served 1,000+ customers, every one of them here for whitening and nothing else.
Order gel online and the price is the only thing about it you can read. An audit test-bought whitening gels from online sellers. The ingredient list was incomplete or missing for every product, and one sample contained no active principle at all.[4]
Where this page stops, and which pages carry the rest
This page stops at how each Ottawa route learns and re-bills its price. What sets the size of a whitening bill, method by method, is on the full cost of teeth whitening. For what one number covers, round by round, read what the Ideal Shade Package covers.
How a visit runs, and when the doors are open, is on how a whitening session runs in the Ottawa studio. Everything upstream of price sits in Teeth Whitening: Methods, Results and Safety.
Questions people ask us
I thought it was five something. Why one number instead of a price per session?
You were pricing a session, and sessions are not what is for sale here. One number covers the whole Ideal Shade Package: as many sessions as your teeth need, until your ideal shade or your genetic limit, at no extra cost. Monthly payment plans split it.
On the website, I thought it was free.
Two things are free here, and the whitening is not one of them. The one-minute Smile Assessment checks whether your teeth suit a session. The Complimentary Shade Consultation ends with your NanoChroma™ reading, and only then does anyone name a number.
So can my insurance cover it?
Plan as though it will not. Plans classify whitening as cosmetic, so budget as if yours pays nothing towards it, whichever route you pick. UpWhiten prints a receipt anyway. Send it to your insurer and treat a refund as a surprise.
I'm afraid we have to keep coming each year.
Your package ends when the readings stop moving between sessions, and that plateau is your genetic limit rather than a number anyone chose. Coffee and red wine do reload colour, so holding a shade is a separate decision, and dozens of members make it on the ForeverGlow membership.
